I was watching Nancy Pelosi on The View and one of the co-host who was talking about that in her opinion anytime somebody questions the Democratic party these days they get labeled as a racist or homophobic. Nancy Pelosi was talking about the need to come together across party lines to discuss what is best for the country. It seems that these days there's a lot of negativity going back and forth within our country between people with different political beliefs. You can have differing political beliefs without name calling without hate speech without negativity. I realize it may not seem possible given the current socio-political climate. I know however for a fact that it can be done. Let me preface this by saying that I am a dyed-in-the-wool left-wing liberal blue Democrat raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before the election last year one of my cousins who is a military veteran and a red Republicans and I had a reasonable discussion about the election. I just saw him a few weeks ago and he says to me not to start anything but who did you end up voting for and I said I still had to vote for My Girl Hillary. He says to me good for you for sticking to your beliefs. So that I believe is the key is regardless of what your personal social political beliefs are you have to be able to open your mind and open your ears and listen respectfully. You may not agree with everything the other person has to say. I didn't agree with everything that my cousin had to say about the Republican Party I still listen respectfully and he listened respectfully to my point of view.
